Have just completed another enjoyable

art lesson in my Lifebook 2016 class

This one is from the very talented

Jane Davenport

from Byron Bay Australia

I had so much fun learning new techniques

and playing with watercolours

something new for me.

A Meditative Face

Just completed my second painting for Lifebook . This was a fun lesson with amazing artist Jenny Grant , learned lots of new techniques.

Playing With Pretty Papers

This week I've made a couple of projects using

pretty papers, paint, stamps, vintage buttons,

laces and embellishments

I first painted this tissue box using white acrylic paint

When this dried I began collaging with

a variety of papers from my stash

I chose this beautiful image of a vintage girl with umbrella

from Paper Whimsy. I used this as the main image

around all sides with different smaller

images, embellishments and painted

texture around it

I was happy with the end result

and really enjoyed the process

I now have a one of a kind pretty 

tissue box for our spare room

First Painting for Lifebook 2016

I've finally completed my first painting for the Lifebook 2016 class I've recently joined

I've always wanted to learn how to paint faces

and thanks to Tams great lesson

I've been able to make a satisfying start

This one is titled The Happy Traveller - a lesson from

 Tamara Laporte at Willowing Arts 

The painting has a personal meaning for me with representations of things I want to take with me on my journey throughout 2016

This one is going to sit in my art room
to inspire and mark the beginning
of my art journey

I am, at present enjoying the Life Book Class, run by Willowing Arts .
It's a fantastic art class that runs for the whole year, and you can just work at your own pace, with such a variety of art teachers and projects to pick and choose from.

Paint and Collage

Just popping back after such a long absence 

To share my latest creative adventures

Lots have happened since my last post

Including a long period of creators block

Where I tried many different crafts and made a 

couple of quilts and even some clothes for

myself .

While sorting through my craft room one day

I came across my many boxes of paint & art supplies

just lying around unused.

I then remembered the satisfying feeling of creating 

your own art and how relaxing the process.

So I've been playing around with a new type of art,

for me, known as paint over collage, or something like that

which I find really enjoyable

I've just completed these two decorative boxes

I'm really finding this type of art so
relaxing and enjoyable
It's a type of art where there are few rules
or rights and wrongs
you just put things where you want them
to go in the colours that please you
etc. etc.

A NEW TOTE BAG

Hello there fellow bloggers

Has it been that long since I last posted?

Time has really slipped away on me this time

Why does life seem to get busier

as we get older?

Is it because we go slower at things

than we used to?

Or is it just rubbing off from the 

way others live their lives

cramming things in to fill every waking moment,

making us feel we have to keep up, or

risk being labelled as uninteresting

and having no life

Well without becoming too philosophical

and trying to analyse it all

I really think it doesn't matter

just how busy or unbusy you are

The main point is whether you're happy

with your lot in life and making the

best of it as you can for the time

you have left on this wonderful planet

What I'm really here for is to share my

productive day with you

Which started with me emptying out all

my fabrics onto the kitchen table

This I haven't done for quite some time

So I was very excited to find

lots of fabric pieces I'd forgotten I had

and would be ideal for making

a bag or pouch

which I'm currently favouring doing

at present in my little craft room

But today I wanted to make a 

new bag for my card making class

I go to on a Friday

I bought a pattern from here

I love Michelle's patterns

they come with great instructions

and tips and the end result

is always pleasing

This particular bag is called

a grocery bag, but I think it

has many uses, being a very

roomy and practical design

So here is the end result!

Perfect for holding all my

craft supplies in

Didn't take too long to whip up

So I'm happy I now have a lovely

bag to take along to my craft group

I decided to add a few pockets

Which is a little different from the pattern.

Paper Patchwork Box

Hello fellow bloggers

I've just completed another storage box 

for my craft room

This is just a simple wooden box

which I've painted white

I decided to decorate the top

with pretty papers

arranged in a patchwork

of squares

and finished with a lace border

It makes great craft storage

with plenty of room for lots of 

my supplies

Upcycled Vintage Sewing Machine Drawer

With the beginning of a new week

I'm continuing my show and tell

of items I've been decorating

for my craft room makeover

I found two of these vintage

sewing machine drawers

in my collection of

things to upcycle

This one though will go

in our spare room

or guest room

I painted both the drawers white

but added pretty papers

to this one

to match the decor of the room

Just added some vintage 

sheet music to the inside

Not sure what I'll put in it

But could be handy

for guests to put keys or phones

 in while staying

The other drawer, I've just 

left plain white and will

use it for storing craft pens

pencils, scissors, glue etc.

Will have more photos

Craft Room Makeover

Well hello fellow bloggers

It's been a while

Sometimes a break from creating

and blogging is just the thing that is needed

and in my case that's just what I've been doing.

This has all culminated in my craft room makeover

So with this in mind I thought it's about 

time for a show and tell

especially now that the end of another year is approaching

oh dear! Where has it gone this time!

Every year seems to go faster!

The warm spring weather, or should

I say early hot summer, we've been

experienceing in our part of the world 

has been ideal for 

being outdoors painting things white

These vintage sewing machine drawers

have come up a treat and are great for storage

This is a set of two drawers which

I've painted white and just added

pretty papers to the fronts of the drawers

as well as the insides

Looking forward to catching up

with all my blog friends

SWEET SHABBY PAPER COLLAGE JOURNALS

Just finished these two sweet

shabby little journals

for my shop

I love the way these images

look with the vintage

bingo card backgrounds

I've added vintage embellishments

buttons, lace, metal corner, brads etc.

The journals are paper covered 

on the inside and back covers

Well after a sad end to 2012

it's time for a fresh start

and new creations

It's been great therapy

being absorbed once again

Mum would have wanted me to be doing
